Arm Yourself
with Information

PurseProof guides you photograph by photograph and question by question, giving you clear information to check a bag's authenticity — and to decide whether you need to seek further information from an expert. Your certificate carries an authenticity percentage, a point-by-point report card, a condition grade and an estimate of what it is worth.

How it works

Step 01

Name the maison

Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Gucci, Dior, Prada, Givenchy, Valentino or Coach — each one is checked against its own house standards.

Step 02

Shoot what we ask for

A guided sequence tells you exactly which angle, stamp and seam to capture, and how close to get.

Step 03

Answer the hands-on checks

Simple yes / no questions about smell, weight, texture and the sound of the clasp.

Step 04

Read your certificate

Authenticity percentage, every checkpoint marked yes, no or maybe, condition grade and a resale range.

Which maison made it?

Each house is checked against its own construction standards, stamping conventions and hardware.

Before you begin

You do not need to know everything. The guide will show you where to look.

01

Find the identity mark

Look inside pockets, along lining seams, under flaps, on leather tabs, near handle bases and behind straps.

02

Gather proof of origin

Receipts, store emails, box labels, dust bags, cards, locks, keys, straps and care booklets can support the result.

03

Use daylight

Place the bag on a plain surface near a window. Avoid flash, filters, screenshots, collages and cropped photos.

04

Get very close

Stamps, stitching, zippers, screws, edge paint, serials and hardware engravings need their own close-up photos.
